Testing for pregnancy can be an exciting and daunting time. There are several testing options available to make it as simple as possible. Pregnancy test strips can help detect a pregnancy 4-6 days after conception and provide 99% accurate results. Pregnancy test strips are known as dip tests, where the test is placed in a urine sample and tests for the presence of pregnancy hormone hCG.
In the first three months of pregnancy, the hormone increases dramatically from less than 5mlU/ml to way over 100,000mlU/ml. Pregnancy test strips are designed to detect hCG from 10mlU/ml, so they are extremely sensitive. They’re also NHS approved and are used in many A&E departments.
If early detection is important, pregnancy test strips can offer accurate results. For more information on conception and family planning, please read ‘Family Planning’.
