Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of antibody. Antibodies are made by the immune system to protect the body from bacteria, viruses, and allergens. IgE antibodies are normally found in small amounts in the blood, but higher amounts can be a sign that the body overreacts to allergens. This can lead to an allergic reaction. These types of tests are the first steps to help identify if you have an allergy.
Why do I need this Test?
Allergy symptoms can range from sneezing and a stuffy nose to a life-threatening complication called anaphylactic shock. If you have an allergy, it is vital that you become aware of this and an IgE test is the first step to identifying that you have an allergy.
