What is the Aqua Pure Traveller?
The AquaPure Traveller (APT) is a personal water purifier, filter and a water bottle all in one product. The APT was produced to help people who find themselves in places where the local water source is not palatable (too many chemicals), of doubtful quality or even dangerous to drink. The APT will allow you to fill the bottle from ANY water source and provide you with safe, palatable, clear, odourless drinking water. The APT kills viruses and bacteria and removes parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
Over 85% of the fresh surface water in the world is contaminated. Even in the Western world, there are problems with the drinking water; numerous Cryptosporidium outbreaks have occurred in UK and U.S domestic water supplies in recent years.
The bottled water market is booming and sales of bottled water are huge. This growth reflects the general population’s understanding of the need for hydration, the poor quality of tap water and increased health awareness and consequent replacement of ‘Soda’ type drinks with water.
As increasing numbers of people travel and travel to exotic places the awareness of safe drinking water has been increasing; more people are getting sick from drinking water and consequently more become aware. The numbers of people adventure travelling increases year by year. These travellers are even more likely to have contact with contaminated water. However, even ‘5 Star’ travellers are at risk in some countries.
Based on the findings of The Passenger Survey 2001-2002 there were 54 million trips by UK residents. There were 8-10 million people from the UK travelling to tropical regions of the world. 30% of UK holidaymakers suffer some form of stomach upset whilst on holiday. 15-20% of patients seen at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases will have a waterborne infection. Fact: There are more people in the world’s hospitals suffering from water-borne diseases than any other ailment. At any time, more than half the world’s hospital beds are filled with people suffering from water-borne diseases. (Source: UNDP)
Who needs an APT?
The APT is ideal for travel abroad and camping. The system is simple to use. You fill up the bottle from a water source such as tap water, river, pond or stream, screw on the filter cap, shake the bottle then after 15 minutes just squeeze for pure, clean, great tasting water. The APT may be of use to you if you:
- Buy bottled water on a regular basis.
- Live an active lifestyle.
- Travel abroad on business or holidays – it will ensure you can drink safe water, even hotel water in many places may not be safe to drink. Just one mouthful of unsafe water could make you sick and ruin your holiday.
- Are concerned about drinking chemicals and the taste of drinking water.
- Like camping or hiking.
In many natural disasters as well as man made ones, sourcing drinking water can be a problem. With an APT, all workers as well as victims can be provided with safe drinking water. U.S, U.K and other Governments are issuing guidelines on household safety due to heightened terrorist threats. In the Event of any such incident if you have an APT you will be able to use all water sources in the house – Storage tank or central heating system – and any outside water source outside even if contaminated – e.g swimming pools.
How accurate is the APT?
Fully independently tested by various Government Laboratories and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The APT is used worldwide on expeditions and by various Special Forces
How does the APT work?
Just a gentle squeeze of the APT forces the water through the 2 micron unique disinfection and filtration system impregnated with a patented formula of absorbing materials and chemicals.
What will the APT take out of the water?
Does the APT take out Viruses and Bacteria?
Can I put anything other than water through my APT bottle?
Please do not put anything through the system but WATER i.e NOT urine, coffee, cola, milk, orange juice, squash, beer, lager or Guinness. NOTHING other than WATER. Please also note that putting very muddy water will prematurely block their filter so it is not advised.Good survival practise is to take water from the fastest flowing part of the river and to take the clearest looking water. If you are at a fixed base then you should allow the water to sedimentate and to take the clearest water that you can. It will prolong the life of the filter.
Before using for the first time, please flush the bottle and filter cap throughly to remove excess carbon. Do this by filling the bottle from a tap, hose or other source of water. Fit the filter to the bottle, pull the nozzle up and squeeze the water out.
To use the APT, simply fill up the bottle from any fresh water source, river, pond or puddle, screw on the filter cap with the disinfectant sleeve, shake the bottle, allowing the iodinated resin sleeve to be in contact with the water for a minimum period of 15 minutes. Then pop up the top and gently squeeze the water through the filter into your mouth or a cup for pure, clean, great tasting water.
How long does the aquapure traveller last?
350 litres. Depending on the turbidity and contamination of the water.
How will I know when it is time to change the cap?
It will become increasingly difficult to squeeze water through the system, and eventually the filter will block up completely.
